Huck, Lieberman lead VP poll
Rasmussen today released a poll (conducted July 25-27) of 1,000 people on their VP preference for John McCain. The top vote-getters? Surprisingly (perhaps), former GOP candidate Mike Huckabee — who has become an also-ran in the veepstakes — garnered a 47% favorability rating . . . slightly ahead of Democrat-turned-independent-(but still caucusing with the Demmies) and McCain close friend Joe Lieberman, at 46%. Mitt Romney stood at 42%. Garnering much less support were Florida governor Charlie Crist (23%), Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty (22%), Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal (22%) and Alaska governor Sarah Palin (11%).
When likely GOP voters alone were considered, Huckabee’s favorability was even higher, at 68% . . . but trailed Romney’s 69%. And, Lieberman continued to fare well, at 58%.
As for the markets this week, Rasmussen Markets say 36.5% Romney and 34.9% Pawlenty, while InTrade says Pawlenty 34.8% and Romney 34%. Either way, it looks like those 2 are clearly the frontrunners in the eyes of the people . . . and, by all indications, in the eyes of McCain as well.
There had been some whispering over the weekend that today might be the day McCain unveiled his veep selection. Marc Ambinder reported a rumor Friday that McCain would be announcing his selection today, while TNR reported Saturday that Pawlenty was clearing his schedule of events for today, furthering speculation that McCain might be on the verge of an announcement.
Regardless, it would seem that McCain has his mind made up in what is one of the best-kept secrets in modern politics. A close advisor told the Washington Post on Thursday that McCain was weighing whether to announce his selection before the start of the Olympic games in Beijing next month, and was “in a position to make [the decision] on short notice if he wanted to.”

Not surprised to see Romney leading the GOP voter poll. He’s the only one that holds up as a fiscal conservative in the bunch.

Romney is no Fiscal Conservative. He is no Conservative at all. He raised fees $501 million his first year in office. Mass economy was second to last in the nation in growth and jobs created. Median household income declined 3% under Romney. He was the first Governor to institute Gay Marriage and threatened his justices and clerks to provide this service to Gay couples even though it had not been made law, only ruled by the courts, which have no jurisdiction unless a law is passed. He donated and attended Planned Parenthood fundraisers. He helped create and signed into law the Socialistic Universal Health care system that is now draining the Mass economy even more. This list could go on and on but if you still like Romney at this point, then you won’t listen to reason anyway.

Americans need a little Palin Power
Sarah Palin the current Governor of Alaska is John McCain’s ultimate choice for VP. I do believe a woman is next in line for the presidency. All Conservatives like her. She is popular in Alaska. Hillary supporters would relish her. She would solidify a 12 or possibly 16 year Republican executive.
John McCain’s boring campaign is wearing thin. I need a little Palin Power to get me interested again. They would say “but she is only a half term Governor!” And your point is?
That’s all I have to say about that!”
